Climate change and its impacts on estuaries
Citation:
FONTAINE, T. Climate change and its impacts on estuaries. Presented at The State of the TIllamook Bay Conference, Tillamook, OR, April 10, 2010.
Impact/Purpose:
Past, present, and future research by WED scientists in the TEP region will be described to lay the foundation for examination of potential climate change effects on estuaries and the broader coastal zone in the Pacific Northwest (PNW).
Description:
Past, present, and future research by WED scientists in the TEP region will be described to lay the foundation for examination of potential climate change effects on estuaries and the broader coastal zone in the Pacific Northwest (PNW). Results from National Coastal Assessments, development of nutrient criteria guidance for the PNW, and current studies on changes in estuarine habitats, food webs, and ecosystem services will be highlighted. Climate change scenarios for sea level rise and changes in temperature and hydrology developed by others will be used to forecast potential climate change effects and uncertainties
