Description:

Registration of Bt crops as part of the FIFRA requirements involves the assessment of environmental risk associated with the new crop variety. The assessment analysis stipulates that the seed producer provide clear and unambiguous information relating to certain risk categories and the plan of stewardship for the crop. One component of this analytical scheme involves the use of simulation models to evaluated the effects of pest evolution towards the development of resistance for the pesticidal traits of the crop. This presentation will discuss the use of models to evaluate risk in a probabilistic fashion rather than a scenario analysis.
