Evolution of Natural Attenuation Evaluation Protocols

Citation:

AZADPOUR-KEELEY, A. Evolution of Natural Attenuation Evaluation Protocols. Presented at Society for Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology Annual Meeting, Toronto, ON, CANADA, July 30, 2009.

Impact/Purpose:

evaluation of the efficacy of natural attenuation

Description:

Traditionally the evaluation of the efficacy of natural attenuation was based on changes in contaminant concentrations and mass reduction. Statistical tools and models such as Bioscreen provided evaluation protocols which now are being approached via other vehicles including molecular technologies such as PLFA and genomic considerations. Examples of these techniques are discussed with respect to field-scale applications.
