Description:

Effects Research: Research on the interaction between toxicants and intrinsic biological factors associated with lifestage for identification and assessment of toxicity pathways for application to risk assessment or for educational outreach. This includes health effects in the developing organism (including epigenetic effects) during pre- or early post-natal period due to maternal exposure, effects during adolescent development, and effects during aging. Because health effects of exposure in one period of life may only become manifest in another stage of life, research should not only consider discrete periods of development.
