Description:
Research using systems analytic approaches to integrate biological and toxicological data across scales of biological organization (e.g. molecular, cellular, tissue, organ, full body, population), with the goal of identifying toxicity pathways, biomarkers, and bioindicators for application to risk assessment. Examples of this include research and modeling to build virtual tissues, such as the virtual liver or virtual embryo projects, efforts to build biologically-based dose-response models, and some aspects of physiologically-based pharmacokinetic modeling.
