A dissection of biological pathways underlying transcriptional responses to endocrine disrupting chemicals in zebrafish

Citation:

WANG, R., D. C. BENCIC, DAN VILLENEUVE, AND G. T. ANKLEY. A dissection of biological pathways underlying transcriptional responses to endocrine disrupting chemicals in zebrafish. Presented at SETAC, New Orleans, LA, November 15 - 22, 2009.

Impact/Purpose:

The EDC-relevant pathways discovered in ths study provide candidates for further experimental and computational explorations to develop a better understanding of fish EDC response mechanisms.

Description:

Genome-wide gene expression profiling under a variety of perturbations is a powerful tool to explore the dynamics of fish responses to exposures of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs). Using Agilent zebrafish two-color genome microarryas, we profiled zebrafish responses under 58 treatment conditions comprised of combinations of multiple test concentrations of 10 EDCs with differing mechanisms/modes of action, four tissue types, and three exposure durations, using a total of 290 microarrays.
