Impact/Purpose:

The goal of this research is to develop methods and indicators that are useful for evaluating the condition of aquatic communities, for assessing the restoration of aquatic communities in response to mitigation and best management practices, and for determining the exposure of aquatic communities to different classes of stressors (i.e., pesticides, sedimentation, habitat alteration).

Description:

Overview of the National Rivers and Streams Assessment (NRSA), a statistical survey of flowing waters in the U.S. Survey is designed to: assess the condition of the nation's rivers and streams; help build state and tribal capacity for monitoring and assessment; promote collaboration across jurisdictional boundaries; establish a baseline to evaluate progress; and evaluate changes in condition since the 2004 Wadeable Streams Assessment.
