SOURCE REDUCTION REVIEW PROGRAM (SRRP) SUPPORT (INDUSTRIAL MULTIMEDIA BRANCH, SUSTAINABLE TECHNOLOGY DIVISION, NRMRL)

Citation:

Description:

Many research efforts are encompassed by NRMRL's Industial Multimedia Branch's Source Reduction Review Program (SRRP)in the area of Pulp and Paper Manufacturing. EPA's Office of Research and Development (ORD) and the Office of Water (OW) are evaluating the use of alternative pollution prevention opportunities at secondary fiber deink facilities (Subpart I) as part of ORD's on-going SRRP and OW's continuing development of effluent limitations guidelines and standards for the pulp, paper, and paperboard industry. With contractor support, ORD and OW conducted a five-mill secondary fiber deink study to gather technical information and analytical wastewater data to be used to characterize the process technologies used at secondary fiber deink facilities and identify pollutants of concern. ORD and OW will complete this five-mill secondary fiber deink study by developing a final report that summmarizes the data and information gathered and evaluates pollution prevention options employed at and available to secondary fiber deink facilities.
