Description:

A critical issue in assessing the vapor intrusion pathway is the distribution and migration of VOCs from the subsurface source to the near surface environment. Of particular importance is the influence of a slab. Therefore, EPA/ORD is funding a research program with the primary goal of comparing vertical profiles of soil gas concentrations near a slab to concentration profiles under a slab. This paper presents the results of our initial investigations at one site; further research is planned.
