AIR POLLUTION TECHNOLOGY BRANCH (AIR POLLUTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL DIVISION, NRMRL)

Citation:

Description:

Fundamental and applied combustion research has been conducted by the Air Pollution Prevention and Control Division's Air Pollution Technology Branch (APTB)and its predecessors since EPA's inception. APTB has been instrumental in the development and successful application of flue gas desulfurization systems on utility power plants. Stduies include evaluation of on-line gas chromatographs for monitoring of waste incinerator emissions and chemical and physical characterization of PM-2.5 from combustion sources. APTB applies its expertise in pollution formation and control to objectively evaluate control technologies for stationary sources of air pollution. The Branch's unique in-house skills and facilities provide rapid response and long-term support for the Office of Research and Development's (ORD's) scientific mission, Agency policy formulation, Program Office regulatory development, and state and regional office implementation.
