Iodo-DBP Formation form the Reaction of Chlorinated Oxidants with X-ray Contrast Media in the Presence of Natural Organic Matter. Presented at Micropol and Ecohazard 2009 Conference, San Francisco, CA, June 08 - 10, 2009.

Impact/Purpose:

The emphasis of this research is to assess exposure to pesticides, toxics, and their transformation products from consuming potable water that has undergone either chemical disinfection and/or lime softening. Since multiple chemicals are used to disinfect drinking water, aqueous chlorine (HOCl/OCl-) and monochloramine (NH2Cl) will be investigated due to their predominant use in drinking water plants.
