TREATMENT AND DESTRUCTION BRANCH (LAND REMEDIATION AND POLLUTION CONTROL DIVISION, NRMRL)

Citation:

Description:

The Treatment and Destruction Branch (TDB) conducts bioremediation and physical/chemical treatment research. Research in the branch is primarily concerned with the removal of organic chemical contaminants from soil and sediments. TDB is a part of NRMRL's Land Remediation and Pollution Control Division. Research programs in TDB focus on issues relating to PAH bioremediation from manufactured gas plants and wood treating facilities, contaminated sediments treatment, endocrine disrupting chemicals research, MTBE and other fuel oxygenates treatment, oil spills research, microbial bioavailability toxicity, and microbial ecology. Specific technologies include bioventing, land treatment, composting, bioslurry, soil washing, and treatment trains.
