Impact/Purpose:

Information

Description:

This presentation provides an overview of new research results and emerging research needs with respect to both corrosion control issues, (lead, copper, iron) and to issues of inorganic contaminants that can form or accumulate in distribution system, water, pipe scales and distribution system sediments. The topics to be covered include occurrence of elevated copper release in systems that meet the Action Level; occurrence and significance of PbO2 in lead service lines with respect to disinfection and monitoring ; interaction of iron and manganese deposits with disinfectants/oxidants, corrosion inhibitors and trace contaminants; occurence and buildup of vanadium in pipe scales in relation to CCL; and discrepancies in solubility predictions and lead mineralogy affecting LCR compliance.
