TREATMENT TECHNOLOGY EVALUATION BRANCH (WATER SUPPLY AND WATER RESOURCES DIVISION)

Citation:

Description:

Research in the Treatment Technology Evaluation Branch (TTEB) is focused on several key problems that face the potable water industry today. These include the formation and removal of disinfection byproducts -- both ozonation DBPs and chlorination DBPs, the removal of pathogenic protozoa, such as Cryptosporidia and Giardia, and corrosion control. Branch staff engages in collaborative research with utilities, academic institutions, and consultants. Technical support is also provided to the Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water, EPA regional offices, and state governments. The scope of TTEB research projects is often defined by the needs identified within other EPA offices, such as the Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water. Information obtained by TTEB scientists supports the development of EPA regulations and rules. Present research is tied closely to the Disinfection Byproducts Rule and the Information Collection Rule. Some research is focused on lead and copper rule compliance.
