Description:

NRMRL has research facilities at its headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio; and at its locations in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina; Ada, Oklahoma; and Edison, New Jersey. NRMRL's Technology Coordination Staff, based in Washington, D.C., manages the Office of Research and Development's Environmental Technology Verification Program. Information about NRMRL's 8 key research areas, including its ongoing and planned research activities to support EPA's mission includes drinking water protection, air pollution control, pollution prevention, sustainability, contaminated media remediation, watershed management & restoration, environmental technology verification, and technology transfer & technical support. The Environmental Technology Verification Program is operated by NRMRL to verify the performance of innovative technical solutions to problems that threaten human health or the environment. The Superfund Innovative Technology Evaluation (SITE) Program encourages the development and implementation of (1) innovative treatment technologies for hazardous waste site remediation and (2) monitoring and measurement. The NATO CCMS Pilot Study on Clean Products and Processes -- The United States, represented by EPA's National Risk Management Research Laboratory (NRMRL) established and is leading this CCMS pilot study on Clean Products and Processes to create an international forum for open discussion on applying cleaner industrial processes and producing cleaner products around the globe. The Methyl Teritary Butyl Eyher (MTBE) research is intended to improve understanding of the physical/chemical/biological processes associated with the fate and transport and destruction of MTBE and to evaluate and develop more cost-effective MTBE treatment processes.
