Description:
The Land Remediation and Pollution Control Division (LRPCD) conducts research at the basic level as well as bench- and pilot-scale to explore innovative solutions to current and future land pollution problems. LRPCD programs include field evaluation and demonstration of innovative technologies; verification of externally-acquired data; development and testing of managment techniques and disposal practices for municipal waste sites: and a strong technical assistance capability for both Superfund and non-Superfund contamination. From research through field evaluation, LRPCD activities combine in-house work, extramural activities, and federal/state partnerships. Through these programs, the Division encourages the development of reliable and cost-effective alternatives for the domestic, federal, and international markets and provides relevant support to EPA's Regional and Program Offices, state regulatory authorities, other federal agencies, private industry, and the public. LRPCD has three branches: Remediation and Containment Branch, Treatment and Destruction Branch, Site Management Support Branch For additional information about LRPCD and its research programs, visit the LRPCD website (http://www.epa.gov/ORD/NRMRL/lrpcd/).
