Impact/Purpose:

To overview TiO2-based AOTs for water treatment and reuse and to observe TiO2-based AOTs current challenges and advances for their potential in full scale practical applications.

Description:

TiO2 photocatalysis, one of the UV-based advanced oxidation technologies (AOTs) and nanotechnologies (AONs), has attracted great attention for the development of efficient water treatment and purification systems due to the effectiveness of TiO2 to generate the highly oxidizing hydroxyl radicals, which readily attack and decompose organic contaminants in water. In this chapter, we overview TiO2-based AOTs for water treatment and reuse and we are particularly interested in their current challenges and advances for their potential in full scale practical applications. TiO2-based AOTs introduced in this study are an inherent component of efficient water and wastewater treatment and reuse systems, which can be used as stand-alone technologies or as supplementary and complementary to existing treatment technologies.
