IRIS Toxicological Review of Beryllium and Compounds (2008 External Review Draft)
EPA announces the release of the updated cancer assessment in the Toxicological Review of Beryllium and notice of the External Peer Review Panel Meeting in the May 12, 2008 Federal Register Notice. This draft assessment is provided for public viewing and comment. Public comments received on the Toxicological Review within 60 days after the release of the FRN will be provided to the external peer reviewers for their consideration. Any comments not received within the requested time period will be considered by EPA in their revisions.

Impact/Purpose:
An IRIS Toxicological Review of Beryllium and Compounds was published in 1988 and reassessed in 1998. The current draft (2007) only focuses on the cancer assessment and does not re-evaluate posted reference doses or reference concentrations.
Description:
EPA is conducting a peer review and public comment of the scientific basis supporting the human health hazard and dose-response assessment of Beryllium that when finalized will appear on the Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) database.
