Impact/Purpose:
This paper was written so that interested researchers in the field of chemical mixtures and interactions would have available to them the testable hypotheses that were developed from an SOT workshop titled ‘Risk Assessment of Mixtures: Development of Testable Hypotheses’. These had no been published in the peer-reviewed literature. Wide distribution of these is expected to result in the undertaking of research specifically targeted at addressing these important hypotheses.
Description:
This paper summarizes the activities of the SOT (Society of Toxicology) Mixtures Program and the SOT Task Force. As such it provides the history leading to the formation of the SOT Mixtures Project, including its early activity and results and the 2005 Contemporary Concepts in Toxicology Workshop on Mixtures.
