Description:
The U.S. EPA operates the Environmental and Sustainable Technology Evaluation (ESTE) program to facilitate the deployment of innovative technologies through performance verification and information dissemination. This ESTE project involved evaluation of co-firing common woody biomass in industrial, commercial or institutional coal-fired boilers. Wood pellets from a Renewafuel, LLC facility in Michigan were used for this verification. The pellets were a pressed oak product which is made from the wood waste. Testing was conducted at the University of Iowa Main Power Plant's Boiler 10.
