DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM CONSIDERATIONS FOR TREATMENT

Citation:

SCHOCK, M. R. DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM CONSIDERATIONS FOR TREATMENT. Presented at USEPA Workshop on Inorganic Contaminant Issues, Cincinnati, OH, August 21 - 23, 2007.

Description:

EPA and other research has shown that drinking water distribution systems are active reactors, which can accumulate, release, or transform contaminants during passage from the treatment plant to the consumers’ taps. This presentation discusses the nature of distribution system material surfaces, what water quality interactions are likely with the different materials, and what various treatment changes in response to new and upcoming SDWA regulations could do to the stability of the scales in the water pipes.
