Description:

The Drinking Water Treatability Database (TDB) assembles referenced data on the control of contaminants in drinking water, housed on an interactive, publicly-available, USEPA web site (www.epa.gov/tdb). The TDB is of use to drinking water utilities, treatment process design engineers, research organizations, academics and regulators. It provides data that can be used for identifying effective treatment processes, recognizing research needs, completing literature reviews, and dealing with regulatory issues. Identification of effective treatment processes helps drinking water utilities plan for future plant upgrades, deal with unintentional spill events, or manage emergency response events. The number of contaminants in the TDB will expand over time to over 200, including those currently regulated in drinking water, on the Contaminant Candidate List for regulatory consideration, and emerging contaminants of pesticide, pharmaceutical and water security interest. Twenty-eight drinking water treatment processes are represented. When users select a contaminant and a treatment process, they will find referenced information on key water quality parameters (pH, contaminant concentration, temperature, etc), key process operational parameters (dose, filtration rate, membrane type, etc), and process effectiveness (log removal, percent removal, etc).
