Impact/Purpose:

The purpose of this activity is to educate educators with respect to environmental issues involving the Louisiana coast.

Description:

Barataria-Terrebonne Estuary Program will develop materials for and conduct a series of local and regional workshops for teachers to introduce two curricula the Program has developed that cover such topics as: productivity and habitats, land loss, water quality and hypoxia, living resources and cultural issues in the coastal regions of Louisiana. This project is funded under the authority of the Clean Water Act which provides the authority to provide assistance to states, and other public or nonprofit private agencies, institutions, etc. to conduct research, studies, surveys, training, etc. related to the causes, effects, extent, prevention, reduction, and elimination of water pollution.
