DREDGED MATERIAL DISPOSAL MANAGEMENT MODELS

Citation:

Description:

US Army Corps of Engineers public web site with computer models, available for download, used in evaluating various aspects of dredging and dredged material disposal. (landfill and water Quality models are also available at this site.) The site includes the following dredged material disposal management models: "SETTLE": for design of Confined Disposal Facilities (CDFs) for Suspended Solids Retention and Initial Storage Requirements; "DYECON": for determination of hydraulic retention time and efficiency of CDFs; "CDFATE": for computation of mixing zone size or dilution for continuous discharges; "PSDDF": for evaluation of consolidation, compression, and desiccation of dredged fill for determining long-term storage requirements; "EFQUAL": for analysis of modified elutriate test results for prediction of effluent water quality and dilution requirements for CDFs; "LAT-E": for laboratory analysis of toxicity for CDF effluent to compute LC50; "STFATE": short-term fate of dredged material disposed in open water for prediction deposition and water quality effects; "RUNQUAL": for comparison of predicted runoff water quality with Standards; "LAT-R": for laboratory analysis of toxicity for CDF runoff to compute LC50; "HELPQ": for evaluation of runoff and leachate production and leachate quality; "LTFATE": long-term fate of dredged material disposed in open water; "MDFATE": fate of dredged material from multiple disposals in open water; "D2M2": optimization of long-term operation, expansion, and acquisition of multiple disposal sites for multiple dredging reaches; "PUP": prediction of contaminant uptake by freshwater plants; "RECOVERY": evaluation of contaminant release from bottom sediments; "DREDGE": sediment resuspension and contaminant release by dredge; "DEMO": demonstration of selected ADDAMS modules.
