Impact/Purpose:

to determine the tolerance of three benthic organisms to reduced dissolved oxygen

Description:

This manuscript describes the results of tests to determine the tolerance of three benthic organisms to reduced dissolved oxygen (DO). These three organisms are those recommended by EPA for use in toxicity testing of contaminated sediments. The results of the exposures indicate that EPA's current guidance for minimum DO in sediment toxicity tests is adequate.
