Description:

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) program evaluates the performance of innovative air, water, pollution prevention and monitoring technologies that have the potential to improve human health and the environment. This technology brief, ETV and Animal Feeding Operations, contains a summary of the information obtained from the ETV Case Studies: Demonstrating Program Outcomes, Volume I and II. It contains a brief description of the test technology(ies) which are designed for air and water monitoring, waste treatment and management, and energy production related to animal feding oeprations (AFOs). These incude: Amabient ammonia air monitors, Hydrogen sulfide air monitors, Waste solids separators, Waste-to-energy distributed electricity generation systems and innovative anaerobic digestion of animal manure.
