Impact/Purpose:
It is not clear whether airborne particulates have a generic toxicity regardless of region and source profile or whether some places may be inherently worse than others. Also, it is not well known whether coarse PM are more or less toxic than fine or ultrafine particles.
Description:
This paper is the result of a collaboration to assess effects of size fractionated PM from different locations on murine pulmonary inflammatory responses. In the course of this, they also determined the chemical makeup of each of the samples.
