Impact/Purpose:
To inform the public
Description:
The 2006 transgenic corn imaging research campaign has been greatly assisted through a cooperative effort with several Illinois growers who provided planting area and crop composition. This research effort was designed to evaluate the effectiveness of remote sensed imagery of various plantings in a unique ground truthing experiment. As part of the cooperative effort some 40 planting areas were imaged and a scouting crew provided input from a ground perspective in the analysis of the imagery. We hope to renew the cooperative relation with the growers for the 2007 crop imaging season. Results of the 2006 research effort will be presented to the growers to show the importance of their contributions.
