SMARTe (Sustainable Management Approaches and Revitalization Tools -electronic) is a web-based decision support tool being developed by the Office of Research and Development (ORD) in partnership with the Office of Brownfields Cleanup and Revitalization (OBCR), the Interstate Technology Regulatory Council (ITRC) and the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF). SMARTe is intended to allow revitalization stakeholders to evaluate future reuse options for a potentially contaminated site. It is being developed in an overlapping phased approach. Electronic tools and content are being released as they are developed, even though the full decision support capability will not be available until October 2007. SMARTe 2007 (released October 2006) currently contains information, links, and case studies for all aspects of revitalization. It can be found at www.smarte.org and is freely available to the public. SMARTe is intended for all stakeholders with varying levels and types of expertise.
