Description:
Factors such as population growth and migration, economic expansion, land use, resource availability, climate change, and technology change impact environmental quality and human health. With populations expected to continue to grow, and with additional countries joining the ranks of the developed, the potential for humans to impact critical Earth systems is increasing. Thus, it is important that decision makers have the information necessary to identify future environmental risks and to act proactively and effectively to moderate or adapt to those risks. The Office of Research and Development of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is carrying out a Global Change Air Quality Assessment. It will provide national and regional decision makers with information and tools to evaluate the impacts of global change on air quality.
