Description:
To further understand near source impacts, EPA is working to develop open-path optical techniques for spatiotemporal-resolved measurement of air pollutants. Of particular interest is near real time quantification of mobile-source generated CO, Nox and hydrocarbons measured in close proximity to major roadways. EPA has developed multi-path remote sensing techniques useful for spatially resolved characterization of area sources, however near road pollutant concentrations are generally below the quantification limit for currently utilized instrumentation. This presentation reports on efforts to develop a Deep UltraViolet Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy system to enable research in these area.
