Description:
The U.S.-German Bilateral Working Group produced two primary products during Phase 3 (2000-2005). SMARTe (Sustainable Management Approaches and Revitalization Tools-electronic) is being developed in the U.S. and the START-UP Plan is being developed in Germany. The two products complement each other in that information from both Germany and U.S. are contained in both. SMARTe is a web-based decision support tool that contains information, resources, links, case studies and analysis tools to help stakeholders overcome obstacles to revitalization. It can be found at www.smarte.org. The START-UP Plan is a guidance document developed to assist redevelopment stakeholders in preparing a target-group specific, integrated project and business plan. It can be found at http://www.vegasinfo.de/startup/. SMARTe and the START-UP Plan are currently being "beta-tested" to determine if they are meeting their intended purpose. Information related to these beta-tests will be presented at CABERNET, the 2nd International Conference on Managing Urban Land.
