REGION 4-SESD TRAINING ACTIVITIES: OCTOBER 2005 – SEPTEMBER 2006

Impact/Purpose:

Region 4's Science and Ecosystem Support Division (SESD) provides technical assistance and courses in the areas of Air Quality Monitoring, Hazardous Waste Studies, Environmental Crimes, Wastewater Studies and NPDES Inspections, Water Quality Monitoring, and Quality Assurance/Data Integration. The courses are presented to Regional, State, and local counterparts.

Description:

Each year, the Science and Ecosytem Support Division (SESD) provides training and technical assistance to hundreds of students in EPA Region 4. Training courses are presented to Region 4 employees, Region 4 States, Indian Tribes, Universities and other Federal Agencies in the areas of Air Quality Monitoring, Hazardous Waste Studies, Environmental Crimes, Wastewater Studies and NPDES Inspections, Water Quality Monitoring, and Quality Assurance/Data Integration. During this reporting period, SESD conducted: one Air Monitoring Workshop, one Hazardous Waste Site Sampling Course, assisted with one Advanced Environmental Crimes Training Courses, four NPDES Inspection Workshops, two Performance Evaluations of Wastewater Treatment Plants Courses, one Performance Audit Inspection Training, one Water Quality Monitoring Course, and six Quality Assurance Training Courses in the areas of Data Quality Objectives, Quality Assurance Project Plans, and Data Validation.
