Information
Description:
EPA seeks to understand the correlation between ambient fine PM and adverse human health effects, and there are no reliable emission factors to use for estimating PM2.5 or NH3. The most common source of directly emitted PM2.5 is incomplete combustion of fossil or biomass fuels. Major SO2 sources include coal fired power plants and smelters. This research focuses on updating and improving the quality of data used for dispersion and receptor modeling and of providing quality emissions data for risk management strategies. This report presents the results of testing an institutional scale oil-fired boiler. The data is presented as mass emission factors¿the mass of emitted species per unit of mass of fuel consumed¿and mass fraction composition of the particle and gas phase emissions.
