HEALTH ASPECTS OF BROMINATED FLAME RETARDANTS (BFRS)

Citation:

BIRNBAUM, L. S. HEALTH ASPECTS OF BROMINATED FLAME RETARDANTS (BFRS). Presented at Brominated Flame Retardants Workshop 2006, Toronto, ON, CANADA, June 27 - 29, 2006.

Description:

In order to reduce the societal costs of fires, flammability standards have been set for consumer products and equipment. Flame retardants containing bromine have constituted the largest share of this market due both to their efficiency and cost. While there are at least 75 different BFRs, a limited number of products have been used the most: TBBPA (tetrabromobisphenol A); HBCD (hexabromocyclododecane); and the PBDEs (polybrominated diphenyl ethers).
