SYNCHROTRON TECHNIQUES IN ENVIRONMENTAL AND FORSENIC SCIENCES

Citation:

SCHECKEL, K. G. SYNCHROTRON TECHNIQUES IN ENVIRONMENTAL AND FORSENIC SCIENCES. Presented at CSIRO Land and Water Departmental Seminar, Adelaide, AUSTRALIA, April 11, 2006.

Impact/Purpose:

To inform the public.

Description:

The application of synchrotron based research for understanding the fate of contaminants in water, soil, and atmosphere is proving to be beneficial for scientists and regulators. Drawing the connection of a contaminated site to knowledge of metal speciation provides direct evidence on the bioavailability and toxicity of the pollutant. The presentation will illustrate successful application of synchrotron methods to understand the speciation of several metals in the environment.
