Description:
This report is a generic verification protocol by which EPA’s Environmental Technology Verification program tests newly developed equipment for distributed generation of electric power, usually micro-turbine generators and internal combustion engine generators. The protocol will apply to distributed generation units up to 2500 KW capacity in electrical generation. Many distributed generation systems can be utilized in combined heat and power applications in which waste heat from the generator unit is used to supply local heating, cooling or other services. It is expected that the distributed generation equipment tested will provide improved energy efficiency, reduced energy costs and reduced use of natural resources. The mission of the Environmental Technology Verification program is to provide third-party expert scientific tests that can allow a potential buyer of the technology to see its benefits.
