Description:
This is a statewide datalayer at 1:24,000 scale of general areas of concern with regards to state and federally listed Endangered, Threatened, and Special Concern species and significant natural communities. Locations of species and natural communities are based on data collected by the CT Geological & Natural History Survey, other units of DEP, private conservation groups and the scientific community and compiled by the Natural Diversity Data Base. The information is not necessarily the result of comprehensive or site-specific field investigations; in some cases locations have been derived from literature, museum records, or historic records. Exact locations have been buffered to produce generalized locations. The exact species or community location falls somewhere within the hatched area and not necessarily in the center. Information on this map does not include Natural Area Inventory Sites, designated wetland areas or wildlife concentration areas. If the project is not within a diagonally hatched area; or overlapping a lake, pond or wetland that has any hatching; or upstream or downstream (by less than 1/2 mile) from a hatched area, the project is unlikely to affect any known occurrence of a listed species or significant natural community. If any part of the project is within a hatched area; or overlapping a lake, pond, or wetland that has any hatching; or upstream or downstream (by less than 1/2 mile) from a hatched area, then the project may have a conflict with a species or natural community. In the case of a potential conflict, complete a Database Request Form, which can be dowloaded from the NDDB website (http://dep.state.ct.us/cgnhs/nddb/requests.htm), and submit to Dawn McKay, Natural Diversity Database Data Requests, along with a project description and a copy of a map clearly showing the project boundaries (860) 424-2859. This mapped data is typically updated twice a year. EPA obtained this data from the State of Connecticut.
