CALSITES, ANNUAL WORK PLAN (AWP), CA DEPARTMENT OF TOXIC SUBSTANCE CONTROL(DTSC)

Description:

The California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) has developed an electronic database system with information about sites that are known to be contaminated with hazardous substances as well as information on uncharacterized properties where further studies may reveal problems. The database, referred to as "CALSITES" is used primarily by DTSC's staff as an informational tool to evaluate and track activities at properties that may have been affected by the release of hazardous substances. Sites that have been classified Annual Work Plan (AWP) are considered to be of the highest priority and are now under remediation. At the time of this dataset development there were 4210 sites tracked by the DTSC in the CALSITES database, 265 of which are designated as AWP sites. This coverage contains point locations and descriptions for these 265 AWP sites.
