CALIFORNIA CITIES WITH 1990 & 2000 POPULATION TOTALS
Description:
Point locations represent cities with Census 2000 population totals and 1990 Census population totals. Cities represent Census Designated Place (CDP) as classified by the US Bureau of the Census. CDP comprise densely settled concentrations of population that are identifiable by name, but not necessarily legally incorporated. City locations have been derived primarily from the USGS GNIS (Geographic Names) database. Locations not found in GNIS have been extracted from Tiger city boundaries coverage. 1990 population totals are derived from US Bureau of the Census STF1A (Summary Tape File 1A). 2000 population totals are derived from US Census Bureau STF1. Population Estimates for 1999 are also included with this set. These are derived from US Bureau of the Census PEP (Population Estimates Program). PEP data is calculated for incorporated cities and Minor Civil Divisions only, therefore, some cities in this data set do not include population estimation data for 1999.
