Information

Description:

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) recently reduced the arsenic maximum contaminant level (MCL) from 0.050 mg/L to 0.010 mg/L. In order to increase arsenic outreach efforts, a summary of the new rule, related health risks, treatment technologies, and design considerations was created. Also included in this document is a list of research articles, related websites from OGWDW & NRMRL, and additional reference materials for more detailed information. Thus, the purpose of this document is to provide engineering firms, utilities, and communities with a summary of the information that is available about treatment technologies for arsenic removal and design considerations for choosing treatment technologies.
