Impact/Purpose:

The Agency is interested in minimizing the amount of lost radioactive sources entering into the public domain. Reducing the number of radiological source in industrial use minimizes the number of lost radiological sources. This project seeks to supplement developmental technologies which could replace or reduce the use of beta or gamma measurement gauges.

Description:

EPA's Office of Radiation and Indoor Air awarded a contract to support evaluate innovative uses of x-ray technology that has potential to replace devices currently using gamma and beta radiation in the plastics, pulp, and paper industries.
