NATIONAL LONGITUDINAL ALCOHOL EPIDEMIOLOGIC SURVEY (NLAES)

Description:

The NLAES is a household survey of 42,862 persons 18 years and older in the coterminous United States. The survey was designed to provide comprehensive information on amounts and patterns of alcohol consumption and on problems associated with alcohol. It is the only nationally-representative survey that uses current DSM-IV psychiatric criteria for classifying alcohol use disorders (i.e., alcohol abuse and dependence).
