MEXICAN-AMERICAN STUDY PROJECT

Description:

This is an intra-generational and inter-generational study on change and persistence in ethnic identity/behavior and socio-economic mobility among Mexican Americans in Los Angeles and San Antonio. In this study, investigators will locate and re-interview persons (or surviving family members) who were interviewed in 1965-66 for the Mexican-American Study Project, a study of Mexican-American mobility and values. The original study, conducted in Los Angeles and San Antonio, was the earliest, most comprehensive study of Mexican-Americans in the U.S. The current project will collect data for a longitudinal analysis of intra- and intergenerational changes and persistence in socioeconomic mobility, changes in ethnic identity and behavior, and family and gender attitudes and behavior.
