STATE AND LOCAL AREA INTEGRATED TELEPHONE SURVEY (SLAITS)

Description:

The State and Local Area Integrated Telephone Survey (SLAITS) is a telephone interview mechanism that employs the sampling frame of the National Immunization Survey. The purpose of SLAITS is to provide high quality health and welfare-related data on individuals and families at the State and local levels for policy and program evaluation. SLAITS is funded completely by survey sponsors and questionnaire modules are designed to meet the data requirements of sponsors. Survey sponsors include federal, State, and nonprofit agencies. One of the major advantages of the SLAITS mechanism is its flexibility with regard to sample design, questionnaire content, and timing of data collection. Efforts are made to use questions from existing national surveys for comparability. Because SLAITS can be implemented rapidly and data are available within months of collection, it is particularly useful for emergent data needs.
