Description:
The U.S.-German Bilateral Working Group is developing Site-specific Management Approaches and Redevelopment Tools (SMART). In the U.S., the SMART compilation is housed in a web-based, decision support tool called SMARTe. All tools within SMARTe that are developed specifically for SMARTe are also labeled "SMART". SMARTe is a web-based, decision support tool for developing and evaluating plans for redevelopment/revitalization of potentially contaminated sites. Brownfield project stakeholders should use SMARTe to: (1) Assess both market and non-market costs and benefits of potential redevelopment/revitalization options, (2) Clarify both private and public financing options, (3) Evaluate and communicating environmental risks, and (4) Facilitate communication among stakeholders. SMARTe will provide the analytical tools needed to implement and integrate each component of the decision process. SMARTe is intended for all stakeholders with varying levels and types of expertise.
