Description:
This report summarizes the findings of an evaluation of the J.R. Simplot Ex-Situ Bioremediation Technology on the degradation of dinoseb (2-set-butyl-4,6-dinitrophenol) an agricultural herbicide. This technology was developed by the J.R. Simplot Company (Simplot) to biologically degrade dinoseb and other nitroaromatic contaminants in soil. This technology is also known as the Simplot Anaerobic Bioremediation (SABRE”) system. Engineering assistance was provided to Simplot by Envirogen, Inc. This evaluation was conducted under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Superfund Innovative Technology Evaluation (SITE) Program. A companion evaluation is also being performed on this technology to determine ifs effectiveness in biodegrading another nitroaromatic compound, TNT (2,4,6-trinitrotoluene).
