COLLOIDAL CONSIDERATIONS IN GROUNDWATER SAMPLING AND CONTAMINANT TRANSPORT PREDICTIONS

Citation:

Puls*, R W. COLLOIDAL CONSIDERATIONS IN GROUNDWATER SAMPLING AND CONTAMINANT TRANSPORT PREDICTIONS. NUCLEAR SAFETY 31(1):58-65, (1990).

Impact/Purpose:

Published Journal Article

Description:

The association of contaminants with suspended colloidal material in groundwater is a possible transport mechanism and a complicating factor for accurate estimations of the aqueous geochemistry of subsurface systems. esearch to date indicates colloidal facilitated transport of contaminants in groundwaters, surface waters, and in the unsaturated zone. f continued research shows colloidal transport of contaminants to be significant, sampling methods and transport models must consider and be sensitive to this transport and reaction mechanism.
