SUPERFUND TREATABILITY CLEARINGHOUSE: LOW TEMPERATURE TREATMENT OF CERCLA SOILS AND DEBRIS USING THE IT LABORATORY SCALE THERMAL DESORPTION FURNACES

Citation:

U.S. EPA. SUPERFUND TREATABILITY CLEARINGHOUSE: LOW TEMPERATURE TREATMENT OF CERCLA SOILS AND DEBRIS USING THE IT LABORATORY SCALE THERMAL DESORPTION FURNACES. EPA/540/2-89/033, 1987.

Impact/Purpose:

provide information

Description:

This study report on laboratory experiments on low temperature treatment of soils using thermal desorption. The purpose of the study was to determine if thermal desorption could remove volatile and semi-volatile contaminants from a synthetically prepared soil spiked with predetermined quantities of contaminants. This study supports the U.S. EPAs' program to demonstrate various technologies for treating contaminated soils for the purposes of CERCLA/SARA compliance with the proposed 1988 banning of land disposal of wastes.
