Impact/Purpose:

information

Description:

This document provides an overview of remediation of uncontrolled wood preserving sites. It is, in part, a distillation of discussions that took place at a Forum on Wood Preserving Waste that was held in San Francisco, California, in October 1988. Information from this workshop has been updated to reflect more recent technological advances. Two important elements of the wood preserving remediation process are emphasized in this document. hese two elements are site specific factors and multiple technology utilization. Greater emphasis is placed on the treatment of soils rather than ground-water treatment and containment mechanisms.
